About the Artist
A Story Told
Through Color
“If I’ve made you smile, then I’ve done my job as an artist.”
For most of his life, painting was something Dan started and stopped—a quiet desire that often lost to self-doubt. It wasn’t until his late 50s that the desire to paint finally outweighed the fear of not being “good enough.” He began with abstracts and sunsets, learning how to use color and experiment with technique. With every brushstroke, he built his confidence and found his direction—his voice.
A Chicago native and former graphic designer, Dan spent a transformative year living in Palm Springs that truly awakened something in him. He fell in love with the quirky charm of the people and the bold lines of mid-century architecture. Both have become recurring inspirations in his work.
Working exclusively with acrylics on canvas from his home studio—often with his cats close by, supervising—Dan creates paintings that are stories: moments in time told through color, humor, and emotion. He paints the world inside him—a world that is joyful, whimsical, integrated, and full of the things we love, especially our pets.
